HARRISBURG, PA (November 23, 2010) - Rick Marsilio, who starred at Marian Catholic High in Hometown, Pennsylvania before playing quarterback at the collegiate and professional levels and coaching prep and pro football teams, has been signed to the offensive coaching staff of the Harrisburg Stampede of the Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL).
"Rick is going to be a big asset to our coaching staff. His QB experience will certainly help in the development and growth of our QBs and his knowledge of the game will be a huge plus," commented Stampede General Manager and Head Coach Bernie Nowotarski.
Coach Marsilio brings a wealth of coaching experience at the prep and professional levels to the Stampede. A dual threat in high school as a quarterback and defensive back, Rick was a three-time letter winner in football and also earned two letters in basketball at Marian Catholic. Following a successful career at Marian Marsilio earned a full athletic scholarship to the University of Akron under then Coach Gerry Faust. Rick then transferred to Towson State University where he lettered in 1989 and 1990.
After his college career Rick traveled to Europe where he played and coached professionally. After a career ending shoulder injury he returned to coach in the states. In 2009 Marsilio was named as the Stampede's Quarterback and Receivers Coach and was later promoted to Offensive Coordinator. He now joins the offensive coaching staff for the 2011 season.
Rick also works with the Northern York High School Polar Bears as a Quarterback/Wide Receiver and Defensive Back coach and owns the Central PA Football Academy located in Central Pennsylvania. Rick has been coaching and working with kids for over 20 years.
