HARRISBURG, PA (November 19, 2010) - The Harrisburg Stampede of the Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL) announced their media department leads and broadcast team for the 2011 season. John Wolfe has been named Media Relations Director and Steve McNelly has been selected as the Assistant Media Relations Director. McNelly and Wolfe will also provide play-by-play and color commentary, respectively, for Stampede broadcasts.
"I am extremely happy to have John and Steve on our Stampede Team running our media department. Their work at Baltimore last year was outstanding and we are lucky to have them both. Our fans, our website and our team will be the best informed in the SIFL, and their work will also produce more local and national coverage. I welcome both John and Steve to the Thunderin' Herd!" commented Stampede General Manager and Head Coach Bernie Nowotarski.
The 2011 season will be Wolfe's fifth in professional sports. Beginning in 2007, he served for two seasons as a General Manager in the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) and Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL). In 2009 he was named the Baltimore Mariners' Media Relations Director. Following expansion of his duties in 2010 he served as Baltimore's Public Relations Director and color commentator on Mariners' broadcasts. McNelly has been named Assistant Media Relations Director and will also perform play-by-play duties for the Stampede. McNelly worked on the Mariners' public relations staff in 2009 and was the play-by-play man on Baltimore broadcasts. He also has previously written weekly Baltimore Ravens' game previews and reviews for www.citythatreeds.com and provided NASCAR coverage for www.chickenfriedracing.com.
McNelly and Wolfe also provided coverage of AIFA Bowl IV, the AIFA's national championship game in 2010 and were members of the Mariners' Front Office, which was named "League's Best" by the AIFA. The Mariners received coverage by all major newspaper, radio, and television outlets in the Baltimore area and also appeared on the nationally syndicated "The Steve Wilkos Show."
