DAYTONA BEACH, FL (November 15, 2010) - Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL) commissioner Gary Tufford announced today (November 15,2010) that they released the SIFL 2011 Master Schedule. The schedule encompasses all 16 teams in the newly reformed league. The league will play with 5 divisions, SIFL Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Gulf and Southwest. Each division has 3 teams with the exception of the Southwest which houses 4. All teams play regionally within their divisions with no team travelling any further than their neighboring divisions.
"This represents a significant improvement over anything that other leagues at this level have done before", said Tufford. "This regional footprint is key in cutting travel costs and building close regional rivalries. It has been our goal to develop natural rivals for our cities and build fan support and team familiarity around the league".
The SIFL kicks off its 2011 season March 18 in Fayetteville, NC (Guard) against in- state rival the Charlotte Speed. The SIFL member teams are: Erie, PA, Harrisburg PA, Trenton, NJ, Richmond, VA, Fayetteville, NC, Charlotte, NC, Columbus, GA, Albany, GA, Huntsville, AL, Mobile, AL, Lafayette, LA, Lake Charles, LA, Houston, TX, Corpus Christi, TX, Rio Grande Valley, TX, Abilene, TX.
