RENO, NV (November 12, 2010) - The Reno Barons has announced the franchise came to terms with Ted Brom early this morning. Brom will serve as the team's Defensive Coordinator. During the Arena Football League's 2010 season, Brom worked as the Defensive Line Coach for the Chicago Rush. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
"I'm honored to have the opportunity to coach in Reno," stated Brom. "Having the chance to work with an expansion franchise and help lay the foundation is a challenge I'm looking forward to. I'm very encouraged by the players that have been signed already and look forward to working with everyone in the organization."
Most recently, previously to the Chicago Rush, Brom was the Defensive Line Coach and Co-Defensive Coordinator at Joliet Junior College in Joliet, Illinois. Prior to Joliet he spent time on the coaching staffs at College of Dupage (Glen Ellyn, IL), Elmhurst College (Elmhurst, IL), and Benedictine University (Lisle, IL), where he coached the 1st ranked defense in the conference. Brom also spent time with the Canadian Football League's Ottawa franchise in 2005, serving as a Regional Scout. Additionally, he has worked summer camps with the University of Colorado and Northwestern University.
"The search for a defensive coordinator was long and tedious," stated General Manager Tim Pierce. "When I was told we had a chance to acquire Coach Brom for our expansion season, I knew we couldn't let the opportunity pass."
"I believe that Coach Brom is going to have a positive influence on our young players," stated Head Coach Major Harris. "His hunger to be part of what we are working hard to build here in Reno was apparent from day one when we started discussions with him."
"Coach Brom was highly recommended to me by coaches in the Arena Football League whom I have a great deal of respect for," stated Assistant Head Coach Jarrod Rogol. "After our meeting in St. Louis it was apparent that Coach Brom was the best fit for our franchise from the many that we were considering."
The Reno Barons will have at least six home games played at the Reno Events Center in 2011. Information on the schedule as well as ticket prices will be announced shortly. Visit the Barons at www.renobarons.com, on Twitter at twitter.com/GoBarons and on Facebook by searching Reno Barons Fan Page.
