The Tri-Cities Fever roster saw two big additions, one familiar face and another newcomer. Fever coach Adam Shackleford re-signed wide receiver Joey Hew Len and added defensive end Christopher Lyle to his 2011 roster.
Hew Lew, who is 6-foot-3, 220 pounds out of the University of Hawaii, played in seven games last season, catching 13 passes for 182 yards and one touchdown He was one player from last year's team that Shackleford made a priority to re-sign.
"When I sat down and looked at our roster at the end of last season, bringing Joey back was a top priority," he said. "He had that unique combination of size and speed that is not easy to find."
The Fever also added Lyle to its defensive front. The standout pass rusher at Iowa State University is 6-3, 260 pounds. Lyle had 38 tackles for the Cyclones in 2009 and tied for the team lead with five sacks and had eight tackles for loss.
"He is a tremendous pass rusher and a player that accomplished great things at a high level while playing in the Big 12," Shackleford said. "I think he can make an immediate impact."
While the Fever added two players, the team also lost two players this week.
Ameer Ismail and Jairius Jarvis both signed Arena Football League contracts with the Milwaukee Iron. Ismail played in seven games last season and was third on the team with 50 tackles.
