(RICHMOND) - The Richmond Raiders announced today that they have signed 8 additional players to contracts for the 2011 season.
"The steps that we took in the last few days are significant on two fronts;" explained Raiders Player Personnel Director Gary Criswell. "We added players that have proven themselves in Indoor Football while having local ties that will resonate well with our fans. The 2011 roster is shaping up very nicely."
Offensive Signings:
Deyon Williams - Deyon Williams is a graduate of the University of Virginia. Williams had 95 career receptions for UVA despite an abbreviated senior season due to a foot injury. Williams had two stints in Washington Redskins training camps. In 2010, Williams was a key offensive weapon for the Maryland Maniacs of the IFL.
Kynneth Moses - Kynneth Moses is a graduate of Virginia Union University. Moses enjoyed an excellent rookie season starting all 15 games at right Guard for the Richmond Revolution.
Brandon Grier- Brandon Grier was a standout player at Virginia State University. Grier played in 5 games with the Richmond Revolution in 2010, playing on both the offensive and defensive lines.
Craig Mangrum- Craig Mangrum returns for his second season with the Richmond Raiders. Mangrum is a graduate of St. Pauls College. Mangrum was a 2010 fan favorite as a Fullback for the Richmond Raiders.
Defensive Signings:
Vince Hall - Vince Hall was the 2006 Dudley Award winner as Virginia's college player of the year. Hall was a star Linebacker for the Virginia Tech Hokies. After his career at Virginia Tech, Hall spent time on the Buffalo Bills practice squad. In 2010, Hall played along the defensive front for the Richmond Revolution.
Will Patrick - Will Patrick is returning for his second season with the Richmond Raiders. In 2010, Patrick played Defensive Line, Linebacker and Special Teams for the Raiders. Patrick is a graduate of James Madison University. Patrick is currently an assistant football coach for Louisa High School.
Alan-Michael Cash- Alan-Michael Cash was a standout player at Varina High School before becoming a key member of the North Carolina State Wolfpack. During Cash's four seasons with the Wolfpack, he made 149 tackles, had 8 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 interception.
Louis Corum - Louis Corum was a standout player at Sheppard College. Corum played Linebacker in 2010 for the Richmond Revolution.
The Richmond Raiders will hold open tryouts at the Richmond Coliseum on Saturday, October 30th from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm. Tryouts will be led by Raiders Head Coach Chris Simpson. Simpson led the Baltimore Mariners to the 2010 American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) Championship as well as to a perfect 14-0 regular season record.
