readingeagle.com/article.aspx?id=257891The Reading Express may be leaving the American Indoor Football Association, but Bernie Nowotarski, Reading's former general manager and head coach, is not.
Nowotarski, the former Exeter High and Kutztown U. standout, Monday was named general manager and head coach of the Harrisburg Stampede, an AIFA expansion team last season.
The announcement came five months after Nowotarski, who had been with the Express from its inception in 2006, left the Reading team in what team owner Ted Lavender termed "a mutual agreement."
Nowotarski coached the Express to the AIFA title in 2009. He joined the organization as an assistant coach and assistant general manager for its inaugural season. He became the GM in 2007 and the head coach in '08.
Chris Thompson, who coached the Express in the last four games after Nowotarski left last season, has since been named head coach, and Tim Glase has been named general manager.
In addition, Lavender announced in August that the Express was leaving the AIFA for the Indoor Football League, because "it's bigger, more stable and a solid foundation of a football league."
