Steelhawks Sign First Three to Professional Contracts
Bethlehem, PA: The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks continue to add to their nest this week, at the same time they announced their first Head Coach in team history. At a press conference on Monday, the team announced Richard Britt as the leader of the expansion franchise. He wasted no time in acquiring three standout young men in WR Corey Bundy, DB Joshua Clark, and LB Joshua Shilko to join the team as their first signings.
Bundy is projected to catch a lot of touchdown passes for the Steelhawks this season, after finishing a career at Sacred Heart University where he is either first or second in every major receiving category. The 6 ft. 2 inch standout with 4.4 speed could also help the team on special teams and return game. He spent six weeks in 2010 with the Green Bay Blizzard of the IFL as well.
Clark comes to the Valley with vast experience in the indoor game. He began in 2007 witht eh Atlanta Thoroughbreds of the NIFL where he recorded 22 tackles and 8 INT's in his rookie campaign. He then spent the entire 2008 season on the practice squad for the Arena Football League's Georgia Force. In 2009, Clark took his game to the Arkansas Twisters of the then AF2 where he finished the season with 28 tackles and 11 interceptions. "I am excited to be coming to the Lehigh Valley and working under Coach Britt," stated Clark. "I am glad to see all the progress the team is making so early in their existence, and I can't wait to help this team bring home the United Bowl trophy in 2011."
Shilko, a local product, most recently played for the nearby Schuylkill County Coal Crackers. While with the Coal Crackers, Joshua was named a league All Star 3 times at 3 different positions. He holds team records for tackles in a game, solo tackles in a game, sacks in a game, interceptions in a season, rushing yards in a game, rushing yards in a season, and longest run from scrimmage. He was named team MVP in 2008 and the team retired his number when he moved away following that season. Prior to playing with the Coal Crackers, Joshua played for Slippery Rock University. While at Slippery Rock, Joshua earned the NCAA Scholar-Athlete award, achieving a 4.0 GPA. He was also awarded the SRU 1200-lb Club Award recognizing his dedication to the strength and conditioning program. Joshua attended high school at Tamaqua Area in Schuylkill County, where he played linebacker and running back and earned several All-area awards as a 4-year letterman. Joshua was named Scholar-Athlete while at Tamaqua and is a member of the Schuylkill Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.

"The new coaching staff hopes to evaluate a lot of young men at these open tryouts and hopefully get some of these individuals under contract," stated Coach Britt. "This region of Pennsylvania is known as a national hotbed for talent, and we fully expect the foundation of individuals we find at these tryouts to make us a success in our inaugural season."
The tryouts begin promptly at 8 a.m. with registration beginning at 7 a.m. Players interested in participating can sign up via the Steelhawks website at www.LVSteelhawks.com. Cost for the event is $60 and includes an official Steelhawks t-shirt. Cost for the event is $65 for the day of the event. Only Cash or Money Order will be accepted the day of the event.
An added perk to participants is the Steelhawks relationship with Beyond Sports Network. Players who participate are eligible to sign up through BSN for a player profile which allows them to market themselves to agents, coaches, and professional teams in the IFL, AFL, CFL, UFL, and NFL.
