Stallions name Gerald Dockery head coach.
Coach Dockery is going into his 5th season as a Head Coach in the Indoor football league. Coach Dockery attended Arizona Western College from 1989 to 1990 and still holds the record for most yards and touchdowns in a single game as a wide receiver position with 248 yards/ 4 touchdowns. He graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 1994 and played at the wide receiver position and punt returner during the 91-92 seasons. He was a major part in helping the team win its first Lone Star Conference championship in '91. Coach Dockery finished his college career as one the conference's top receiver and punt returners with national rankings in both perspective areas.
Following college, Dockery moved on to the higher ranks of professional football, playing for the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL in 1995 along with NFL greats Doug Flutie and Jeff Garcia. Dockery then moved on to the Arena Football League in 1996 playing for the Texas Terror (which later became the Houston Thunderbears). Dockery then traveled north to play with the Grand Rapids Rampage from 1998-1999 where he finished 3rd on the team as a wide receiver and 2nd in tackles as a defensive back, Dockery also led the team in pass break ups. After a successful stint in Michigan, Coach Dockery returned to Houston and finished his career in 2002 as one of the Arena Football League's top two way player.
Dockery began his coaching career with the Katy Ruff Riders of the former Intense Football league in their 2007 inaugural season as a Defensive back coach. He moved to defensive coordinator after one game and led a defense that helped collect 5 straight wins for the team and finished the regular season at 7-7. In 2008, Dockery was named Head Coach of the Katy Ruff Riders and assumed the role of Assistant General Manager overseeing Football Operations. After the 2008 season, the Ruff Riders relocated the team to Abilene Tx, and named Dockery as the Head Coach. He led the team to its first winning season at 8-6 and a playoff berth, also a franchise first. Dockery has now assumed the role as Head Coach of the new Houston Stallions Indoor Football Team which starts their inaugural season in 2011 and will be playing in the SIFL.
Coach Dockery is 40 years old, he resides in Houston Texas with his beautiful fiance' April and his 3 daughters, Aleah 19, Tiana, 17, and Tamia 13. Dockery has a BS in Criminal Justice with a minor in Health Education. He also owns a personal training company called Total Sport where his motto is "Good Isn't Good Enough..........Get Better"! Dockery lives by one simple quote, "I'll Go Anywhere As Long As It's Forward."
