HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY - General Manager Jared Lorenzen has announced additions to the Northern Kentucky River Monsters staff today (Tuesday, September 21, 2010) for the upcoming 2011 season. The River Monsters have named indoor coaching veteran Rodney Swanigan as the team’s first head coach, and Jayson Ameer Rasheed as their Director of Media Relations.
“Coach Swanigan is an amazing coach,” said Lorenzen. “After talking to him, I understand the directon he wants to go and we are on the same page. He is an incredible leader and will demand the respect from the players. I can not wait to see him in acton.”
SWANIGAN joins the River Monsters after spending last season on the coaching staff of the 2010 CIFL champion Cincinnati Commandos. As a member of the Commandos staff, Swanigan coached current River Monsters Director of Football Operations, Ray Jackson. His indoor stints include the Marion Mayhem (CIFL), Wyoming Calvery (NIFL) and Dayton Bulldogs (NIFL). He is currently the assistant running backs coach at Central State University.
RASHEED, who spent four years as the Sports Information Director at Thomas More College, will be in his first professional experience. A 2000 graduate of Wilmington College, he has been in sports information for more than a decade. He will coordinate all of the River Monsters media relation efforts, their game day functions and their community involvement.
