Lions, tigers, bears and ocelots? That's right Rio Grande Valley, the RGV Magic Indoor Football Team has created its logo, and it's a fierce one. The team has chosen the ocelot, a breed of wild cat native to the Rio Grande Valley to represent the team.
How native is it? Well, South Texas is the only place in North America that ocelots are found in the wild.
"We chose the ocelot because we want our logo to be a part of the Valley's natural beauty," said Chad Dittman, the team's owner. "There are a lot of beautiful animals in the area, but we like the stunning, sleek ocelot the best. Just like we did when we picked the team name, we worked hard to make sure our logo really capture the spirit of the area."
The logo is very symbolic, from the colors to the design. The team colors are red, royal blue, navy, gold, silver, and white. The stars represent the magic the team is going to bring to the Rio Grande Valley. The sharp teeth show that everyone on the team is fierce. The golden eye represents a desire to make the Valley proud. The red tongue indicates the fire and drive to go far. The bold Magic lettering shows that the team stands out from the rest. The sharp nails show that the Magic will not rest until they're satisfied, and the pointed ears are a sign of alertness. These things represent values for the team and community. "It's wonderful to have a logo with such great meaning behind it," said Dianella Cantu Public Relations Director.
The team is very excited to have such great partnerships. Dr. Kip Owen has partnered up with the team, and he has many years of great experience ."The guys need to be in tip top shape and with Dr. Owen we know we can count on that," Head Coach John Fourcade stated. "I am excited about the return of indoor football. The fans are fired-up about the upcoming season and ready to carry The Magic to a championship. This season should be fun for everyone. The fans have been clamoring for it and we're excited to support the RGV Magic, Mr. Dittman, and the entire organization. We're happy to be able to provide care for these professional athletes," said Dr. Kip Owen.
The team is also very excited to partner with BMP Radio and Fox Sports, which have the frequency to bring all our home and away games to the Valley. The team will feature a coaches' show Monday nights from 7 to 8 p.m with special guests throughout the show. "It's great to know even when we're on the road our loyal fans will still be up to date on every play," said Head Coach John Fourcade.
"BMP Radio and 840 AM Fox Sports radio are excited to be in partnership with the RGV Magic. 840 AM Fox Sports Radio will be home to all of the RGV Magic games as well as the RGV Magic Coaches Show. 840 AM Fox Sports radio is already the home of the Texas Longhorns and NFL Football so broadcasting the RGV Magic's games is a natural fit. We look forward to being the flagship station of the RGV Magic for many years to come," exclaimed Lisa Miller from BMP Radio.
The RGV Magic football team is also looking for talented players interested in playing for the team. Tryouts are just around the corner.
