La Crosse, WI: Wheeling and dealing has been the theme this week as the La Crosse Spartans completed their third trade this afternoon. La Crosse has traded the rights to defensive lineman Tommy Chavis to the Sioux Falls Storm in exchange for fellow defensive lineman Larry Dibbles. Chavis started every game for the Spartans last season while Dibbles saw time one of the top defensive line units in the IFL after being signed late last season. Dibbles (6'3", 290 lbs.) was a three-year starter at Texas University and was an All-Big 12 selection his junior and senior years while helping to lead the team to a national championship in 2005. Over the course of his four-year career, he recorded 107 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles. He has spent time in the Arena Football League and the IFL since his college career.
"It's been a very productive week for our organization," Spartans General Manager Chris Kokalis. "While Tommy was an asset to our line last season, I feel that Larry is going to do big things and his leadership qualities and his desire to win will be a true asset."
The Spartans, entering their second season in the Indoor Football League, were named the 2010 IFL Community Relations Franchise of the Year for their efforts in the community this past season. Season tickets are now on sale for the 2011 season for as low as $84 and can be purchased by calling 608-782-4461 or by visiting www.lacrossespartans.com.
