Simpson was a starting cornerback for the Arizona Wildcats (1981-84) and was a member of the Dallas Cowboys practice squad during 1986-87. He began his coaching career in 1992 with the River City Gamblers. He also coached the San Angelo Stampede and the Lincoln Capitals of the National Indoor Football League and has been Baltimore's coach since 2007.
"I am excited about the opportunity ahead in 2011 and to be part of the Raiders organization here in my home state of Virginia," said Simpson, who lives in Virginia Beach. "The Raiders are committed to competing for a championship next season while putting on a great show for our fans at the Richmond Coliseum."
