Revolution DL Jason Holman Signs with CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats
RICHMOND, VA.: SportsQuest and the Richmond Revolution announced today that Revolution *DL Jason Holman* has signed a contract to join the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League. Holman was a 2010 IFL Defensive Player of the Year candidate, and was named IFL Defensive Player of the Week for Week 11 of the 2010 season for his 3 sack performance against the Maryland Maniacs.
Holman played in 10 games with the Revolution this past season, missing 4 games to a knee injury. He led the team with 9.5 sacks, finishing tied for 5th in the IFL for the season. Holman also contributed 29 tackles which ranked 9th on the team. In the Revolution's playoff loss to Rochester, Holman chipped in 2 tackles and combined with *LB Vince Hall* on a sack of *QB Perry Patterson*. Twice during the season Holman totaled 3 sacks in a game, first against Bloomington in the season opener and again against the Maryland Maniacs in a record setting 55-39 win. During the game Holman helped to hold the Maniacs to only 2 points in the first half, an IFL record.
Holman played 6 games in 2009 for the Billings Outlaws of the IFL, totaling 11.5 tackles, 3 for loss, 1 sack and 1 forced fumble. He signed the Outlaws after spending time on the practice squad of the Colorado Crush of the AFL. Holman was a 2007 graduate of Winston -Salem State University, where he played his last 2 seasons after transferring from the University of Maryland. In 2 seasons with the Rams, he totaled 74 tackles, 14 for loss, 3 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery. As a Junior he was named First Team All CIAA at the Defensive Line position.
