LAKE CHARLES, LA - The Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL) announced today that football will return to the Rio Grande Valley in 2011. League President Thom Hager states, "Texans know football and they love the indoor game. Teams have played throughout the state in several leagues and we are excited to bring football that's affordable back to the Valley". New team owner, Chad Dittman has wanted to launch Hidalgo for years and has committed to a three-year arena lease with the city. The team will call the State Farm Arena home as early as March of 2011. "I'm super excited", Dittman said. "People are fired up about us coming into town. Now that we've made the announcement the work begins", Dittman said with smile.
Dittman said the first order of business is to locate office space and hire a sales staff. "Since our announcement, our phone rings every hour with enthusiastic fans wanting to buy season tickets. Rio Bank has come on board with the team as the 1st sponsor and Tom Van Marte a long time Dorado's season ticket holder was the 1st to purchase season tickets.
