The defending AIFA champions, who have dropped three of their past five games, lost to the expansion Richmond Raiders 40-39 last week. ...QB Rob Flowers leads the team in rushing (177 yards, 9 touchdowns) and passing (2,101 yds., 19 INTs, 44 TDs). ... Reading has a potent trio of receivers in Jeff Willis (56 catches, 544 yds., 11 TDs), Ocasio Carmelo (41 for 393 yds., 10 TDs) and Dan Kelly (29 for 353 yds., 11 TDs. ... Defensively, Sam Bryant leads the team with five interceptions, David Smith has 30 tackles and Dayon Benson has six sacks and 12 tackles for loss.

The second-place Stampede, who quieted the Erie Storm 54-35 two weeks ago, were boosted by new acquistions DB Travis Johnson and WR Ed Giddins. The team recently picked up QB Aries Nelson, so that situation bears watching. ... WR Silas Daniels is expected back after missing three games with a broken finger. ... DB Marcus Sargeant (broken foot) is still out, while DB Archie Smith (hamstring) is a game time decision. ... LB William Hines, a Harrisburg native, leads the team in interceptions with six, two were returned for TDs. RB Eugene Goodman (194 yds, 12 TDs) is having a solid season. ... WRs Keith Stokes (48 for 602 yds, 5 TDs) and Kevin Marion (26 for 409 yds, 7 TDs) have been playing well. ... QB Kelvin Robinson is 106-of-199 for 1,420 yds., 9 INTs, 22 TDs.

Former Reading coach Bernie Nowotarski, who led the Express to four division championships, two conference title games and a championship (last year), has joined the Stampede as a volunteer assistant. According to Harrisburg co-owner John Morris, Nowotarski will work with the defense. “Unfortunately, this is a business, and I ended up on the other end of the business decision,” said Nowotarski, referring to him leaving Reading. “I took them to the next level and I can’t do anything else. Now I’m here with the Stampede to help them reach the next level. It’s going to be awkward [Saturday] ... but I’m here [for the long haul] to help Harrisburg.”
