sportsyakima.com/2010/04/arena-issues-postpone-warriors-game/YAKIMA, Wash. — The Yakima Valley Warriors will likely pick up a victory this week without even stepping on a field.
Arena issues have forced the Ogden Knights to postpone home games last week against Wenatchee Valley and today’s scheduled contest with Yakima Valley.
Although neither game has officially been canceled, Warriors co-owner Michael Mink said Thursday that it’s unlikely they can be rescheduled.
“At this point, I don’t believe we’ll be able to make up the games,” Mink said.
If that happens, both the Warriors and Wenatchee Valley will receive forfeit victories.
Ogden officials hope to resolve their arena situation in order to complete the remainder of its home schedule, but as of now, Mink said the Knights will be playing only road games.
As for Yakima Valley, the postponement gives the team two weeks to prepare for its next game, a home contest May 1 against the Arctic Predators. The Warriors have a bye next week.
“It’s nice to have some time off … to prepare for Alaska,” Mink said.
