The Green Bay Blizzard broke open a close game in the second half Friday night and defeated the Spartans 48-12 at the Resch Center.
La Crosse (0-2), playing its first game since Feb. 26, scored its touchdowns in the first half on an interception return by Paul Simpson and a 45-yard kickoff return by Antonio Overstreet.
Quarterback Jake Phillips led the Blizzard (2-1) by throwing three touchdown passes to James Finley, two of which came in the second half. Darius Jones' touchdown run with 4 minutes, 44 seconds left in the third quarter gave Green Bay a 35-12 lead.
The Spartans' next game is March 28 on the road against the Sioux Falls Storm.
