The team must be trimmed to a 20-man roster, a five-man practice squad and a five-man inactive list by Tuesday.
“We’re going to make those last decisions on guys that have a desire make the roster,” Evans said. “Guys that can play two positions and both offense and defense are important. Those guys have an advantage in making it.”
The Venom are allowed to suit up 20 players for Saturday’s season-opening game with the Yakima Warriors at the Town Toyota Center.
Evans said he can pull players onto the game-day roster from the inactive list or the practice squad.
The American Indoor Football League’s West doesn’t start its season until this weekend, but all but one of the East Division teams will have played at least once by the time the Venom take the field.
