www.albanyherald.com/sports/headlines/84284602.htmlALBANY — The Albany Panthers will host their first official player tryout for the upcoming season on March 6.
All interested players will need to meet at the Albany State University’s practice field for registration at 9 a.m. There will be a registration fee of $50 that can be paid on-site via cash, cashier’s check or money order, or online at www.albanygapanthers.com.
“We are in our inaugural season and we’re looking for strong local talent,” said Panthers coach Lucious Davis, who was the defensive coordinator last year for the now-defunct South Georgia Wildcats. “It’s important to open up the opportunity to football players from the surrounding counties to be a part of the Albany Panthers. With the tremendous talent in the area, we hope to deliver at least two contracts following the tryout.” Tryouts will begin at 10 a.m. and last until 1 p.m.
Players are required to be dressed appropriately and football cleats are mandatory.
Participants will perform the 40 yard dash, L-Drill, 20-yard short shuttle, and a period of individual drills. For more questions concerning tryouts, contact Davis at (832) 232-1613.
