www.albanyherald.com/sports/headlines/83015407.htmlALBANY – The Albany Panthers of the Southern Indoor Football League will be holding their first official press conference today at 11 am at the James H. Gray Civic Center, where they will announce Lucious Davis as its first head coach.
Originally planned for Tuesday, the Panthers will finally introduce their newest indoor football team to the city of Albany. At the conference, the Panthers will unveil their logo, introduce staff members, as well as layout their plans of moving forward for the next five years.
The current General Manager of the Panthers, Will Carter, has already been in place for nearly a month. Carter, a graduate of Kentucky-Wesleyan, is quite familiar with the city of Albany as he was once the Vice President of the former South Georgia Wildcats, which folded at the end of last season along with the league it played in, the af2.
Last Friday, the Southern Indoor Football League released its 16-week game schedule and because the Panthers were the last team to join the six-team league and was given flexibility on the schedule, as the club will have two bye-weeks to begin the season.
“We are extremely excited and pumped about getting the chance to finally introduce ourselves to the city of Albany,” Carter said. “We have all the hard work behind us and at last can bring indoor football back to the great fans of Albany.”
