www.wtrf.com/story.cfm?func=viewstory&storyid=66607&catid=3WHEELING -- The Wheeling Wildcats of the Continental Indoor Football League have apparently folded up shop in the Friendly City. The Wildcats called WesBanco Arena home in the spring and summer of 2009, and finished their only season at 2-10. They lost the final four games of the season, and defeated Miami Valley twice.
"We have given their deposit back to them for next season," said WesBanco Arena Manager Denny Magruder.
Right now, there are no dates set aside for next season for the team to play.
Attendance at the home games declined throughout the season.
Calls to the Wildcats front office from WTRF have not been returned.
The Wildcats practiced through the week in the Pittsburgh area and just played home games in Wheeling. The star of the team was former University of Pittsburgh quarterback Rod Rutherford. Several former West Virgnia University Mountaineers also suited up, including Kevin "Boo" McLee, Eric Wicks, and Vaughn Rivers.
