HOUMA — The Houma Conquerors have faced the Louisiana Swashbucklers twice so far during the regular season.
And in both meetings, the Lake Charles-based Swashbucklers took home lopsided victories, outscoring the Conquerors, 89-32.
So will the third time be a charm for the Conquerors when they face the Swashbucklers again at 7:30 tonight in the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center?
Houma interim coach Clyde “C.J.” Maiden hopes so, but he also knows that beating Louisiana will be a tough challenge.
With a 9-1 overall record, the Swashbucklers have secured the top seed in the SIFL playoffs and will have home-field advantage throughout the postseason. They lead the SIFL in several statistic categories such as total offense (234.5 yards per game and total defense (144.6 per game),

In the previous two games against Louisiana, Maiden said the Conquerors (2-7 overall) have hurt themselves with turnovers, penalties and slow starts.
During the first meeting May 23 in Lake Charles, Louisiana stormed out to a 31-13 halftime lead and held on for a 48-16 win.
In the second contest on June 22, the Conquerors drove down the field on their first possession and looked to go ahead 7-0, but a costly turnover ended the drive and swung the game’s momentum to the Swashbuckers, who converted 31 second quarter points into a 41-16 win in Houma.......article continues in link.
