www.greenvilleonline.com/article/20090606/SPORTS07/906060308/1002/SPORTS/Force+hosts+StampedeThe South Carolina Force stopped the snowball from rolling any farther last week and will now look to push back up the mountain in front of them.
The Force ended a three-game losing skid with a 50-36 win over the Carolina Speed last Saturday. South Carolina will host the Harrisburg Stampede tonight at 7 in the Bi-Lo Center.
With a 4-6 overall record, the Force is out of playoff contention, however, South Carolina can still manage to finish its first season with a winning record. To do so, the Force (4-6) must win the remaining four games.
That final slate includes games against the Stampede and the Speed, two teams the Force has defeated already this season. However, the Force also will face the Baltimore Mariners and Florence Phantoms, who both have 6-4 records.
In the American Indoor Football League, like many other leagues, point totals seem to have a direct relationship to team standings. Each of the AIFA's three divisions is sorted such that the teams who have posted the most points have won the most games, regardless of how many points they have allowed.
Over 10 games, South Carolina has scored only 400 points, which has yielded a win percentage of .400. The Force did reach the 50-point barrier for the third time this season. The team is 2-1 when scoring 50 or more points.......article continues in link.
