www.houmatoday.com/article/20090606/SPORTS20/906069998/1032/SPORTS?Title=Long-road-swing-ends-for-HoumaHOUMA — To say that the Houma Conquerors are road weary is probably an understatement.
Since opening the season on April 19, the Conquerors have played five games — four on the road — and had two bye weeks. Their only home game at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center was on April 26.
It’s been 41 days since the Conquerors played a home game, and tonight, that stretch will finally come to an end. The Conquerors will play the Texas Pirates at 7:05 tonight in their second home game of the season.
“It’s always good to be back home, especially after having four of your first five games on the road,” Conquerors owner/coach Franklin Thomas said. “We were not home at all in the month of May, so it’s kind of been like out of mind, out of sight. But to have five of your next six games at home at the civic center, it will be exciting. We will give them a good show.”
The road has not been kind to the Conquerors. They have started the season with an 0-5 record, started slow in nearly every game and turned the ball over 19 times (10 interceptions, nine fumbles).
Thomas said the 0-5 start has been rough on the coaches and players, and they desperately need a win to help the team’s morale.......article continues in link.
