www.standard.net/live/sports/173495/Knights coach Mink attacks job with great gusto It's one thing to attack an opposing running back like Dick Butkus: chin up, butt down, eyes wide open, feet moving forward. It's quite another to attack life the same way.
Meet Ogden Knights coach Mike Mink. He's done both.
To describe Mink as a do-it-all kind of guy would be a huge understatement, sort of like saying a big, juicy medium-rare Porterhouse steak is a decent dinner option.
No, Mink does it all, then comes back and does a little more.
He coaches the Knights -- who'll take on the Wyoming Cavalry Monday night at Golden Spike Events Center -- but he also co-owns the team as well as the league it plays in.
He runs practices, develops game plans, makes personnel decisions, motivates players, meets with sponsors, makes promotional appearances at local schools and vows to make sure you and your family have a swell time watching indoor football.
Spend five minutes with him and he'll have you ready to run through a brick wall.
"I was a very aggressive personality when I was a young man," he said with a wry smile. "I was kind of like a Dick Butkus when I played and it carried over to now."
Butkus, for those who might not know, was a Hall of Fame linebacker for the Chicago Bears. If you were an opposing player -- lineman, running back, quarterback, they all tasted like chicken to him -- he wouldn't just run to you, he'd run through you. Then he'd knock you into next week and stand over you while you saw stars.
