The Outlaws trailed early but dominated over the final three quarters to defeat the Missouri Mustangs 54-20 and advance to the title game on May 30.
Marcus James provided a huge boost to the offense, scoring three touchdowns as he showcased his explosive speed. Quarterback Kyle Middleton threw five touchdown passes and ran one into the end zone in as the Outlaws’ offense clicked all afternoon.
“Personally, as a player, I feel like every team and every individual should finish every play,” said James about his effort. “If you’re not finishing, I think you might need to rethink where you are. Every play I try to finish. I got some good blocks from my team on those runs, and I just tried to finish the play.”
Mid-Missouri (9-0) got on the scoreboard first. Middleton hit Eric Brown, who had two scoring catches, for a 15-yard touchdown and a 6-0 lead.
The Mustangs answered on their first play from scrimmage when Chris Kaufman completed a 26-yard scoring strike to Adam Maxwell. The two-point conversion put the Mustangs in front 8-6.
The Outlaws retook the lead 12-8 before the end of the opening quarter on a 3-yard touchdown run by James.
The Mid-Missouri defense, which recorded six interceptions and a number of sacks, contributed the next points. Larry Williams sacked Kaufman in the end zone for a safety and a 14-8 lead early in the second period.......article continues in link.
