Tonight, the Conquerors will try to make amends for that loss.
Houma faces Austin at 6:30 p.m. at the Travis County Expo Center in Austin, Texas.
Austin has the league's second-ranked scoring offense (49.7 points per game), top-ranked rushing offense (80.7 rushing yards per game) and second-ranked rushing defense (34.3 rushing yards allowed per game).
"Last time we played, we got out to a slow start," Conquerors coach Franklin Thomas said. "We've been drilling the guys about getting off to a fast start."
The slow start on April 26 helped the Turfcats (2-1 overall) take a 33-7 lead into halftime, and the Conquerors never recovered.
"We came out flat," Thomas said. "They kind of took advantage of that. Eighteen penalties — that's just horrible."
Turnovers haven't helped, either. The Conquerors currently rank last in the SIFL in turnover margin at minus-6. They've given up 12 turnovers while only forcing six.
Since the April 26 game against Austin, though, the Conquerors have shown signs of improvement, giving league-leading Acadiana a scare last Saturday before losing 31-23.......article continues in link.
