If you were to take the 07 championship game teams in each of the leagues and pair them up how do you think they (teams and leagues) do? AIFA Lakeland Thunderbolts Reading Express APFL Kansas Koyotes Iowa Blackhawks CIFL Rochester Raiders Port Huron Pirates IFL Louisiana Swashbucklers Corpus Christi Hammerheads UIFA Sioux Falls Storm Lexington Horsemen I only wish I could see them play.

What about the 2007 NIFL Champions San Diego Shockwave? They could hold their own with any of these teams.

You forgot the WIFL. I bet the Spartans or the Lions could have beat most of these teams.

Let's add in Wyoming and Fayetteville (the two NIFL c'ship teams), and Columbus and Augusta (WIFL). So there's 14 teams.
You could hypothetically go seven and seven for two conferences:
EAST Lakeland Reading Fayetteville Augusta Columbus Rochester Lexington
WEST Kansas Iowa Louisiana Corpus Christi Sioux Falls Wyoming Port Huron
ASSUMING no payment issues and such (I'm talking to you, Port Huron), here's what I'd think the standings in each conference would be (double round-robin, 12 games):
EAST *Lakeland 8-4 (They had the goods most of the time. The East, as you see, would be wide wide wide open.) *Rochester 8-4 (I wouldn't be shocked if they were #1 by two games here, either. If Port Huron projected to this east, they'd probably be 10-2 or better.) *Lexington 7-5 (throughout the year, they were vastly inconsistent. If the end-of-year Horsemen were the only ones I considered, 12-0 wouldn't be a stretch against this competition.) *Reading 7-5 (They relied on the kicker far too much, giving up six for three way too much...it cost them a game or two, and against tough competition where touchdowns are paramount...it'd cost them more.) *Columbus 6-6 (off field, the WIFL was great. On field, none of its teams really did anything beforehand in the AIFL, and there was a lot of returning talent here. If I underestimated one thing, though, it'd probably be these WIFL teams. But I doubt it.) *Augusta 4-8 (read above...Augusta really wasn't that good, and they got hot in a watered-down-on-field league) *Fayetteville 2-10 (not buying their talent with a tough 12-game schedule, to be blatantly honest)
WEST *Sioux Falls 11-1 (This may be the best team in the history of the sport...though the Greyhounds of '02-03 could challenge it, I won't argue with you if you say "SF is best." But...) *Louisiana 11-1 (This team had the defense good enough to give the Storm a run. I'd pick these two teams to go 1-1 against each other and 10-0 against the rest of the pack. Louisiana's offense wasn't great, but their defense is probably better than Sioux Falls' was.) *Port Huron 7-5 (Against consistently awesome defenses, Port Huron's offense would not have success. Their receivers were all well under six feet, and as such good one-on-one coverage would force the Pirates to throw...something good cover guys could stop. Franzer is the one QB I'd want to win me a big game, but through a regular season without the best talent, he'd have trouble...he never was a great passer.) *Corpus Christi 7-5 (They just weren't quite good enough to get over the IFL hump...the same would hold true against the top teams in the other leagues. But they'd be close.) *Wyoming 3-9 (This is the same roster in a lot of ways that regularly went 4-10 and 5-9 in the NIFL. There aren't any patsies...well...many patsies in this configuration, and Wyoming would suffer with their talent. That said, if the league were this legitimate, the Cavs and Macieczjak would not have this roster.) *Kansas 2-10 (I think Coffin's good enough to lead a team to pop someone with far better talent ahead of it. I just don't think the APFL talent level is anywhere near that of the tops of these other leagues. I've seen tape of every league, and the APFL...while there is talent, isn't there. If you put Coffin and the "it" he has on a team with true indoor talent, watch out.) *Iowa 1-11 (They did beat Kansas once.)
Obviously this is subjective, and it'd probably miss by a couplea games here and there. But I think it's close.

it will take a major sponsor with massive pull to make this happen.
(I like Budweiser) they put up the purse and the $$ for hoopla to carry this off.
alcohol, smokes and national resturant chains are the only co. that would have mass apeal in all markets involved and the deep $$$ to hold it.

Actually, Wyoming and Fayetteville were suspended from the NIFL before the season ended. Their official seasons ended. The San Diego Shockwave were the 2007 NIFL Champions.

If you're taking an outside census of what teams were in any sort of NIFL title game, it would be Wyoming and Fayetteville.
Besides, if there was one league to exclude...it'd be that one.

it's all good speculation. One way to get there is via a champions championship. 4 teams would only extend the season by 1 game for 2 of them, and 2 games for the winners.

Exit VERY nice assessment of the teams.

Indeed - if the Drillers have the defensive stalwarts that they had in their best times (I know the offense has always stunk)...they would be my favorite in the APFL.
