Yes, Quincy Carter really is going to be at the El Paso County Coliseum.
Yes, that Quincy Carter.
The former second-round draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys and their one-time "quarterback of the future" will be in town in a showdown of the top two teams in the Lone Star Division of the Indoor Football League.
"Any time you hear the name 'Quincy Carter' you know the guy is something special," Generals coach Brian Brents said. "He had a great career at (the University of) Georgia and the NFL.
"He's definitely somebody we'll be keeping our eye on. He's a great athlete and a great person. He's an outstanding player. He can beat you with his arm, he can beat you with his legs.
"That's who we have our eye on this week."
The matchup should be intriguing. While the Generals (4-1) have a one-game lead in the overall standings, Abilene (3-2) hasn't lost a game in the division. Its losses are non-conference games against the Wichita Wild and Omaha Beef.
Carter will be taking on the top defense in the division and the third best in the entire 16-team league, as El Paso has yielded just 33.8 points per game.
"We've got to put pressure on him and make him make decisions he doesn't want to make," Brents said.......article continues in link.
