When they take the field for the first time as a team inside the Kicks Indoor Arena, there will be plenty of smiles coming from the faces of the 23 players and six coaches participating in the first game in franchise history.
But they also know their game in Houston is a business trip. It will be their first live game against a real opponent, and they understand the importance of opening the season with a victory.
“Anytime you have an expansion team and you have young guys like we have and you don’t know nothing about the team that your playing against, it’s important to go in there and get a win early in the season,” Conquerors coach and owner Franklin Thomas said. “It’ll give us some confidence and experience going into the rest of the season, so it’s important that we get that first win under our belt.”
Since this is the inaugural game for both teams, Thomas said he doesn’t know anything about the Pirates. The coaches don’t have game film or information about the Texas players. ......article continues in link.
