And while training camp doesn’t end until Saturday, when the team trims its roster to the required 27 players, coach Franklin Thomas says this week can be considered game week.
“Pretty much, we’re headed into game week now,” Thomas said on Saturday. “So, we want to overload the players with plays to make sure that they can catch on when we start preparing for the game.”
Early last week, the Conquerors made cuts, putting their roster at 36 players. Thomas said another round of cuts was expected for today, with the final cuts coming on Saturday.
But in talking about last week – the first of training camp – Thomas said he was pleased with the team’s progress.
“It went real well,” he said. “We just basically got the guys in shape, doing a lot of conditioning drills. (We added) a lot of base plays on both offense and defense. They’re pretty much catching on to every-thing.”......article continues in link.
