The Outlaws (3-0) scored a season-high 57 points en route to a 57-6 domination of Central Plains Football League rival, the Junction City Tigers.
“We knew, offensively, that our first couple games was not how we could play,” said Outlaws quarterback Kyle Middleton. “We finally started gelling together and started calling some plays that really work for us. We have three guys that block great for me. I never got touched all day.”
The Outlaws found holes in the Tigers’ defense early and often and enjoyed the luxury of playing on a short field throughout the contest.
Middleton threw four touchdowns and rushed for another.
Both teams’ offenses struggled on the opening two possessions. The Outlaws defense held Junction City on downs on the opening possession, and Chad Jackson intercepted quarterback Chris Vercher on the Tigers’ second drive.
The Tigers (2-1) drew first blood with 1:31 left in the first quarter after Vercher connected with Jay Hatfield in the end zone. They could not convert the two-point conversion and took a 6-0 lead.
After the Tigers’ early touchdown, Mid-Missouri took over. Middleton took his team downfield on the ensuing possession and scrambled for an 11-yard touchdown. Jackson made the extra point and Mid-Missouri led 7-6.......article continues in link.
