www.madison.com/tct/mad/sports/445718The Wisconsin Wolfpack would trade drama for another "W" when they face division rival Rock River in a Continental Indoor Football League matchup Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Alliant Energy Center Coliseum.
The Wolfpack (2-1), a first-year team from Madison, won their season opener 40-38 over the Raptors on March 7 in Rockford, Ill., when quarterback Tom Stetzer connected with offensive lineman Mike Sherman on a touchdown pass as time expired.
"The last time the teams met was one of the most exciting games that fans will see in the CIFL this year," Wisconsin offensive coordinator Dave Mogensen said. "We hope we can provide that kind of entertainment again this week at the Coliseum and hopefully we will come out on top again."
Wisconsin is coming off a 36-20 victory last Saturday over the Milwaukee Bonecrushers at U.S. Cellular Arena in Milwaukee. A win over Rock River (0-3) this time around would keep the Wolfpack in the hunt for a Western Division title.
"Despite their record, the Raptors are a very solid team," Wolfpack coach Jordan Kopac said. "Fans shouldn't look at the records. Football is decided by the players on the field."
