www.herald-dispatch.com/sports/x1280642173/No-HeadlineHARRISBURG, Pa. -- Jesse Carmon, who played football at Ironton High School, had a big game on the offensive line for the Harrisburg Stampede on Saturday as the first-year American Indoor Football Association entry beat the AIFA All-Stars, 46-24, in the Kickoff Classic at Farm Show Arena.
Carmon, 6-foor-4, 300 pounds, played for the semi-pro Ceredo-Kenova Crash last season and also saw action with the AIFA's Huntington Heroes. The Heroes ceased operations after 2008. Carmon got an invitation to tryout for the Stampede along with Sam Huff, former Crash player and standout receiver at Fairland High School. Both have signed contracts.
Byron Cobb, linebacker for the Heroes last season, is with the Stampede, too, and had an interception in the Classic.
