I have been skimming through the boards for all of the leagues. I have noticed that almost everyone of them has at least one team that is folding or going through money problems. You would think that team and league owners would take a look at leagues past and try to learn from their mistakes. Now I am not saying that the IFL is perfect, however as they say, we dint hang our dirty laundry out to dry.Every team is having problems, otherwise they would all be in A-1.
What I am trying to say is that it is a sad sight as a fan of indoor football to see leagues and teams "jump before they look" attitude. I would hate to get into a league/team and then they just go belly up during the season.
I am writing this because I too would like to own a team. I have been offered many chances, but at this time I am neither mentally or fiscally ready for it. I have passed on some really great opportunities in the pass. But, my time will come. I dint think it is fair to the fans to just "jump-in" and see how it goes. For example look a Lubbock, TX. If I was a business owner I would never sponsor a team in that area again. I think that anyone who would start a league at this time should look at the large picture. Establish a independent league office, start with 6 to 8 solid teams. Have the office do some research on the area and owners before they sign contracts. Just because they have start up fees, make sure they can make it through the at least 2 seasons with out any revenue. I also think that the head coaches should be a full time position. There should also be a some kind of veteran cap on players. Each team should be allowed x # of veterans on their team. Anyways thank you for letting me vent on in this format. To all the owners that read this board, PLEASE make sure that you are ready for the season, dont play with our hearts and souls.
