Bloomington, IL, 2/26/12 - The Bloomington Edge, presented by Heller Stores, got their first win of the season at home as Sunday. They beat the Reading Express 54-40. Dusty Burk had 13 completions on 27 attempts and threw 3 touchdown passes. John Cooper had 60 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. Andre Raymond ran for 62 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Reading got the first score of the game with a 31 yard field goal, but the Edge came back quick with three scores of their own. Andre Raymond had two rushing touchdowns and John Cooper caught a 38 yard touchdown pass from Dusty Burk. The Edge were up 21-3 after the 1st quarter.
Reading got back in the game with a strong 2nd quarter. They started the scoring with a 31 yard touchdown pass. The Edge responded with a rushing touchdown by quarterback Dusty Burk. Burk was sacked for a safety and then the Express scored another touchdown pass. After an onsides kick by Reading, the Edge kicked a 36 yard field goal as time expired. Bloomington led 31-19 at halftime.
The Edge got the 3rd started with Andre Raymond's third rushing touchdown of the day. The Express had a passing touchdown of their own, but the Edge responded with two more pass touchdowns. Pete Christofilakos missed the point-after attempt on the first. Reading's Joshua Floyd would return the kickoff for a 58 yard touchdown and the Edge led 51-33 entering the final quarter of play.
Reading quarterback A.J. McKenna scored a rush touchdown early in the 4th quarter as the Express tried to comeback.
Pete Christofilakos made a 34 yard field goal to help pad the lead.
