Council Bluffs Expresss Offers Contracts to Brett Fabre Topeka, KS -- The Council Bluffs Express have formerly submitted a contract offer to retired NFL Quarterback Brett Favre. The indoor professional football team hopes the “gunslinger” can be ready to play by Opening Night on March 31 when they travel to Tulsa to take on the Oklahoma Defenders. The team’s home opener is on Saturday April 14th at 7:05 p.m. vs the Cheyenne Warriors.
The Express were formerly known as the Iowa Blackhawks. The team was purchased recently by local businessmen Brad Lindgren and Joe Riker. Upon the completion of the sale, the pair changed the moniker and removed “Iowa” and replaced it with “Council Bluffs”. They changed the colors from black and gold and replaced it with blue and orange.
The Express play their home games at the Mid-America Center located along Casino Row on the south side of town and on the eastern banks of the Missouri River across the bridge from Omaha, Neb.
“I understand that Brett has had some health issues that forced his retirement from the NFL,” said Lindgren. “Because the QB position has to make quick reads and throws in our league, he won’t be susceptible to hits like he did at the outdoor game. He might be able to play for another 20 years.”
Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
