Cedar Rapids, IA: The Cedar Rapids Titans, the newest team in the Indoor Football League, announced today they had signed the franchise's first three players. Leading the way for the Titans will be LB Wes McDermott, a former All American at Morehead State. The 6'0", 245-pound linebacker finished his career in the top five of MSU's career tackles list at 316 total tackles. "Wes is a guy that has a ton of potential." said Titans General Manager Chris Kokalis. "He is a hard nosed no nonsense type player who never takes a play off." Last season, while playing for the La Crosse Spartans of the IFL, McDermott played in eight games, registering 35 tackles, one sack and one defensive touchdown.
The team also announced they had signed OL Travis Miller, a 6'6" 340-pound graduate of the North Dakota College of Science and a 2 year veteran of the IFL with the Spartans.
Lastly, the Titans signed local kicker Mike Polaski for the 2012 season. Polaski is a graduate of Wartburg College in Iowa, after previously attending Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids. Last season with the Spartans, Polaski tied for the league lead with the longest completed field goal of the season at 57 yards.
