BINGHAMTON - Every team needs someone to look to when the game is on the line, whether it's in the huddle, or in their formation right before the snap. Binghamton now looks to Mike Blackstone for this form of leadership as he was signed today as their seventh player for the 2012 season. Many of their first six signings were players that have shown flashes of brilliance in their indoor careers, but some are seeing their first action this upcoming season. With a ton of talent, Binghamton took a step in a different direction by signing Blackstone, an eight year indoor football veteran to their roster.
"We do enjoy having a young team because this sport is very much about giving guys opportunities to reach the next level." says Binghamton General Manager, Matt Custer. "But when we can bring in a player of Mike's caliber and veteran leadership to the field on Saturday nights, it was a simple decision to bring him aboard."
Mike was enthusiastic when he signed the contract. "I'm grateful to be playing in Binghamton for the 2012 season. Ever since I was an AIFA All Star, I have wanted the chance to be a leader in different levels of the indoor game. Binghamton gives me that next step and a chance to play longer and have another productive season."
Binghamton joins the Indoor Football League's Atlantic Division for the upcoming 2012 season. The Indoor Football League was created in 2008 from a merger between the Intense Football League and United Indoor Football Association. It consists of 27 teams located across the United States from Alaska to Richmond, VA.
