Green Bay, WI: The Omaha Nighthawks announced that they have signed Offensive Lineman Cody Faulkner for the 2011 United Football League season. Faulkner, an Indiana Hoosiers Alum, spent the 2011 season with the Green Bay Blizzard. Faulkner was a mainstay on the Blizzard line playing Center and both Tackle positions. Faulkner's durability and flexibility allowed him to see action in all 16 games this season at multiple positions.
The Omaha Nighthawks are a professional football team based in Omaha, Nebraska, which plays in the United Football League, joining the league as an expansion team in 2010. For their first season, the Nighthawks played their home games at Rosenblatt Stadium before moving to the new TD Ameritrade Park for 2011 and beyond.
As a member of the Indiana Hoosiers, Faulkner had a successful career. As a redshirt freshman in 2007, Faulkner was a key offensive line reserve for the Hoosiers participating in two games. In 2008, Faulkner started all 11 games in which he appeared at right guard. The Hoosiers broke the 2,000-yard rushing mark (2,003) for the second straight year, the first time since 2000 and 2001 an Indiana University team produced back-to-back 2,000-yard rushing seasons. Indiana averaged 4.5 yards per carry and carded 19 rushing TDs, its best numbers since 2001. The team rushed for over 250 yards four times with a season-best 297 yards in the season-opening win over Western Kentucky. In 2009 and 2010, Faulkner was a reserve offensive lineman that battled injury a majority of the season.
