BINGHAMTON - Players continue to flock to Binghamton as the team continues to fill their roster for training camp. Defensive End Devon Lewis becomes the fifth signee for the inaugural season of indoor football in Binghamton.
Standing at 6'5" and 275 pounds, Lewis figures to anchor the defensive line in 2012. According to Assistant General Manager, Chris Blake, having a great defense in a mostly offensive game is important. "In a field of fifty yards, each turnover is huge. If a team has a great kicker they can put up at least three points each time they have the ball, so to be putting pressure on the quarterback with Devon is going to help make our defense much stronger.
Hailing from Oklahoma, Lewis spent three years playing for the University of Maryland where he started in ten games. He also brings a veteran presence to Binghamton having played for the South Georgia Wildcats of Arena Football 2, making 13 starts.
Devon talked about his excitement and enthusiasm for coming to Binghamton when he said, "I'm so excited to be playing in Binghamton. I have never played for a team in New York, and I can't wait to start a new chapter of my life. Hopefully we can start a winning tradition here and I plan on being a part of it."
