Panthers Call for a "Blackout" in Championship Game
ALBANY, Georgia - The Albany Panthers (12-2) will be looking for their first ever SIFL Championship, Saturday, July 2nd, and the team islookingfor some help from the fans. The Eastern Conference champion Panthers players, led by wide receiver Antwone Savage and quarterback Cecil Lester, hope the crowd has a different look, a "Black Out" in fact.
"Earlier in the week, our guys made it apparent that they want all Panther fans in the house Saturday night to wear black," said General Manager Will Carter. "It doesn't really matter what it is, Panthers apparel or not, just put on as much black as you can." The Panthers are undefeated this season when they have garnered their new black uniforms.
When the Western Conference champion Louisiana Swashbucklers (10-4) and Panthers clash, fans are asked to "Black Out" the Civic Center. The fans supported a similar effort in the first home game of the season, a miraculous come-from-behind win against Louisiana.
"This effort is designed for all of us to show that we're unified in our support of the Albany Panthers football team," Carter continued. "The fans have shown great support during the regular season and playoffs. Now, it's time to take this effort to another level to create a true home field advantage for the first SIFL Championship Game in Albany, Georgia, against one of the most storied franchises in the league (the Louisiana Swashbucklers)."
Saturday night, July 2nd, the Albany Panthers will host the Louisiana Swashbucklers (10-4) in the SIFL Championship Game. All reserve seats are $10 in advance and $15 on the day of the game. Tickets are available by contacting the Albany Civic Center Box Office, going online to Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com) or by calling 877-544-TIXX(8499).
