Extreme's Ficklin Receives 2011 IFL Defensive Player of the Year Award
BLOOMINGTON (Ill.) - Defensive Lineman, Antonio Ficklin of the Bloomington Extreme has been named the 2011 IFL Defensive Player of the Year.
Ficklin, in his 3rd season with the Extreme organization, recorded 15.5 sacks in 15 games this season to go along with 17.5 tackles for loss, 42 tackles, 4 forced fumbles, and 2 safeties on the season.
The IFL has announced all of its 2011 Year End Award winners. Nominations were provided by the 22 member teams of the Indoor Football League and voted on by the directors of each IFL team. Member teams were not permitted to select their own organization or players, coaches, or staff for the year end awards.
The Extreme received the IFL's award for Best Website for the second consecutive year.
The Extreme were represented with finalists in 10 of the 18 year end award categories. 2011 IFL Year End Awards in which the Extreme are represented as finalist in were:
- Franchise of the Year
- Community Relations Award
- Best Team Website
- Best Dance Team
- Executive of the Year - Beau Bradle (2nd consecutive season)
- Most Valuable Player - DL, Antonio Ficklin & QB, Rocky Hinds
- Defensive Player of the Year - DL, Antonio Ficklin & DL, Sean Kelly
- Defensive Newcomer of the Year - DB, Marcus Winn
- Most Improved Player - DL, Antonio Ficklin
- Adam Pringle Award - WR, Darwin Salaam
