Vidswap.com Players of the Week Announced for Playoffs Round One
Richmond, VA: The Indoor Football League is proud to announce the Vidswap.com Players of the Week for the first round of the 2011 Playoffs in the IFL. Each week the IFL selects three players, one from each phase of the game, offense, defense, and specials teams, whose play on the field stood out among the rest of the competition. The First Round Players of the week are listed as follows:
Offensive Player of the Week: Chris Malleo, QB, Reading Express
Malleo exploded into the first week of the post season with an outstanding performance in the first round against the tough rated Chicago Slaughter. Malleo completed 17-28 attempts for an impressive 279 yards and 6 touchdowns. Not only did Malleo show his talent through the air, but also gave the Slaughter defense a taste of his speed rushing five times for 49 yards and his 7th touchdown of the game.
Defensive Player of the Week: Frankie Solomon, Jr., DB, Allen Wranglers
The Allen Wranglers continue to prove their strength in the post season pushing past the Wyoming Cavalry and into the second round of playoffs. This all comes from a big help on the defensive side of the ball, courtesy of Mr. Frankie Solomon, Jr. In this tough back and forth battle, Solomon seemed to be a steel trap on defense. Registering 8 tackles, a forced fumble, fumble recovery, 2 interceptions and 1 pass break up, Solomon was not letting anything past him on Sunday afternoon. Frankie's performance helped to give them the win 27-20, and also earn his spot as Defensive Player of the Week.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Dennis Rogan, KR, Tri-Cities Fever
Rogan continues to place himself at the top spot on Special Teams in the IFL with his second week in a row of Special Teams Player of the Week. In his performance last night, Rogan would be key in getting the Fever to the right position. Helping the Fever to win and move onto the next round, Rogan returned 8 kicks for 131 yards giving the Fever great field position all night.
