Extreme fall 39-34 in IFL Playoffs at Omaha in a Tightly Contested Battle
The 2011 season comes to an end for the Bloomington Extreme at the hands of the Omaha Beef with a 39-34 loss in the first round of the Indoor Football League playoffs in Omaha, Neb.
Omaha led by 14 at halftime on the strength of 3 James McNear touchdown passes, but the Extreme roared back in the second half on three Rocky Hinds touchdown throws--two to John Cooper and one to James Walton.
Hinds had 290 yards passing on the night, and Glenn Johnson added 13 receptions. Sean Kelly had two first-half sacks for a defense that was relentless in its pursuit of the mobile McNear.
The Extreme had a chance to take the lead late, getting down to the Beef 10 yard line, but Omaha's defense was able to hold. Then, following a missed field goal by the Beef, the Extreme had one last shot inside of a minute, but the drive ended on a Pig Brown interception.
