Richmond, VA: The Indoor Football League is proud to announce the Vidswap.com Players of the Week for Week 17 in the IFL. Each week the IFL selects three players, one from each phase of the game, offense, defense, and specials teams, whose play on the field stood out among the rest of the competition. The Week 17 Players of the week are listed as follows:
Offensive Player of the Week: James McNear, QB, Omaha Beef
McNear had a stand-out game Saturday evening against division rival, Sioux Falls Storm. McNear's 2011 season had been plagued with interceptions; however, Saturday evening McNear completed 19 of 30 attempts for 195 yards, 4 passing touchdowns and 0 interceptions. Not only did he find great success with his arm, he was able to rush 12 times for a total of 76 yards and a rushing touchdown. McNear's versatility allowed for the Omaha Beef to defeat the once undefeated Sioux Falls Storm.
Defensive Player of the Week: Greg Jackson, LB, Green Bay Blizzard
Jackson showed up for the Green Bay Blizzard Friday evening to play against division competitor, the Chicago Slaughter. Jackson, along with the assistance of the remaining Blizzard defense, was able to greatly hinder the progress of the Slaughter offense. Alone, Jackson had 6.5 tackles, 2 of which were for a loss, 1 sack, and 1 interception that was returned for a touchdown. Jackson's strong efforts helped the Green Bay Blizzard remain well ahead of the competition in the Great Lakes Division.
Special Teams Players of the Week: Dennis Rogan, KR, Tri-Cities Fever
Rogan, kick returner for the Tri-Cities Fever, had a stellar performance Sunday evening against the Seattle Timberwolves. Rogan's knowledge of the game and agility shined through as he racked up 181 yards during 5 returns. 3 out of the 5 returns made it to the end zone. Rogan's dominate performance helped earn the Fever a spot in the 2011 play-offs.
