Round One Preview:
In round one of the 2011 post season, the United Conference will host two match ups starting with the Chicago Slaughter traveling to face the Reading Express in Pennsylvania this weekend. Chicago sits at the end of the regular season with a record of 8-6, a big pick up of new QB Juice Williams will be sure to add a spark to the Slaughters offense, but will it be enough' The Express have spent the regular season sitting way atop the Atlantic Division from week one. With the elusive QB Malleo behind the lines and strong coaching staff on the sidelines the Express show a good chance of fighting their way to the show.
Our second United Conference match up for this week will take place in the great state of Nebraska, as the 9-5 Bloomington Extreme travel to take on the Omaha Beef. The Beef proved they are prepared this past weekend as they gladly handed Sioux Falls Storm their first loss of the season. Coming off of a huge win the Omaha Beef will be sure to come out of the gates blazing. Although, their opponent will not be one to lie down quickly, the equally strong Extreme will be ready to take another run at the United Bowl as they begin their journey this weekend. With Hinds at QB and a strong defense to back him, the Extreme will not be a team to take lightly during this post season stand-off.
The Intense Conference begins round one with some great match ups as well as our first game will take place in Allen, TX, as the Cavalry will storm into town looking to top the Wranglers to move on to the quarterfinals. The Allen Wranglers have shown their talent on numerous occasions during the 2011 season at 10-4, they sit strong in the third seed and are looking to move on to face the #1 seed Colorado ICE in the next round. With the Cavalry's offense led by QB Matt Strand and Allen's strong defense it should be a back and forth nail biting experience.
Our final matchup of round one will come to you directly from Kennewick, WA as the West Texas Roughnecks make the long trip to Washington State to face the Fever. The winner of this conference match up will move into the second round and travel to Alaska to face the 10-4 Fairbanks Grizzlies. It will be a tough run for the defense of the Roughnecks as they face the two M.V.P nominee threats of the Fever, Lillard and Hew-Len. Will the Roughnecks defense be enough to overcome the Fever and move into the second round' We will find out in the IFL's version of Monday Night Football on the 20th.
