The Cincinnati Commandos will play for their second consecutive Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) Championship this Saturday, June 11 at 7:35 at the Cincinnati Gardens. The Commandos (11-0) will host the Marion (OH) Blue Racers (9-2).
The game will feature two record-setting, former quarterbacks from Bowling Green State University, including the Commandos Tyler Sheehan, who played at LaSalle High School. Sheehan was a three-year starter and played at BGSU from 2006-2009. During his senior season, Sheehan broke the single-season passing record with more than 4,000 yards and also set a single game mark with 505 yards in a game against Kent State.
Marion is quarterbacked by Josh Harris, who spent time with Baltimore, Cleveland and the New York Giants of the NFL. Harris completed his BGSU career as the school’s all-time leader of rushing touchdowns and second in career passing scores.
Cincinnati advanced to the league championship game with a convincing 71-13 win over Chicago this past Saturday night in the semi-finals of the CIFL Playoffs. Marion won the right to play the Commandos with a 53-18 win over Dayton on Monday night.
The Commandos played Marion twice during the regular season and dealt the Blue Races their only two setbacks on the season. Cincinnati won a close game at Marion on March 12, 50-44. Tyler Sheehan threw four touchdown passes in the win. The Commandos also won the second meeting with the Blue Racers, 50-20 on May 28 at Cincinnati Gardens. Again, Sheehan threw for four touchdowns as well as rushing for a score, in the Commandos win.
Live stats from the game will be available online in the CIFL GameCenter.
