STOCKTON - If it was a physical game Reno wanted, the Wolves gave it to the Barons.
The Wolves sprang out to a 28-0 lead, then held off Reno before scoring 23 points in the final quarter for a 59-33 win in front of several hundred fans at Stockton Arena on Saturday.
Stockton (6-1) avenged a 58-22 loss at Reno on May 28, scoring on its first four possessions. The Wolves improved to 3-1 against the Barons this season.
Wolves quarterback Lemuel Adams threw a 4-yard touchdown to Jerome McGee Jr., then found Reggie Eubanks from 15 yards out. Eubanks caught an 8-yard touchdown with one hand and Jasonus Tillery's 17-yard catch from Adams gave the Wolves a 28-0 lead.
Reno (2-3) failed to score on its first three possessions as kicker George Pierson missed a 42-yard field-goal attempt and Stockton's Kevin Brown intercepted quarterback Thomas Peregrin to keep Reno scoreless in the first quarter.
Reno scored with 51 seconds left in the half on Peregrin's 22-yard pass to Luke Lippencott, but the pass failed to leave the score 28-6.
Reno mounted its comeback when it scored first in the second half as Peregrin found Lippencott from 24 yards out, then passed to Lee Moorehead for the 2-point conversion. Pierson's ensuing kickoff deflected off a Stockton player and the kicker recovered to set up Keithen Valentine's 19-yard scramble to pull the Barons to within 28-20.
Stockton answered with Adams' deep pass to McGee from 27 yards out.
Adam's sixth touchdown pass of the game went 15 yards to Tillery. Adams finished 18 of 22 for 248 yards.
Peregrin finished 14 of 25 for 241 yards for four scores and four interceptions.
Stockton next hosts the Tucson Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on June 18 at Stockton Arena.
